Special Note for the 2024 Application: Our REU-Site grant has concluded at the end of 2023 and is currently pending for renewal. If our program gets renewed in time in Spring 2024, we plan to offer the REU-Site program in the summer of 2024, but it is unclear at this point (12/31/2023). So please kindly check back this website in late Feb for the update.
The timeline for 2023 is shown below:
- Application Deadline:
March 12Extended to March 20 (11:59 PM AoE)
- First Notice of Invitation and Acceptance: March 17 — 24
- Secondary Notice of Invitation and Acceptance: March 25 — April 3
- REU Program: May 22 — July 28 (10 weeks)
To be eligible for the REU program, a student must meet the following criteria:
- Be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident
- Be currently enrolled as a full-time undergraduate at Penn State or elsewhere in US and its territories
- Have a minimum cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.0
- Have at least 1 year remaining before graduation (at the time of application)
- Have a strong desire to pursue a graduate program
To apply, applicants need to prepare the following materials:
- CV (in PDF)
- Copy of the academic transcript (in PDF)
- Short essay (up to 2 pages in PDF), describing one’s interests in machine learning and/or cybersecurity, one’s goal for the REU program, and one’s plan for graduation education
- 2 letters of recommendation (have them sent to: psureu@gmail.com by the above DUE date)
